Team Human is slowly winning the war against social media and cell phone addiction!
There was the landmark verdict in March where Instagram and YouTube were found liable for social media addiction. Countries like Canada and England are following Australia’s lead to ban social media below age 16.
Progress! Slowly. But we’re making progress.
I loved this recent email I received from Smartphone Free Childhood sharing 10 signs you’re raising kids like it’s 1999 again. (Pair it with their recent YT video called "We remade a 90s video shop for the smartphone era.")
I found it a helpful reminder to model great behaviors for my kids and hope you enjoy it too.

1. Sending them outside at every opportunity
2. Eating out without iPads (even if you question your life choices halfway through)
3. Letting them be bored (and trusting something will come of it)
4. Encouraging independent play with friends (and saying yes to a bit more risk)
5. Books, comics and magazines instead of scrolling
6. Giving them real responsibility – helping, exploring, figuring things out
7. Holding off on smartphones and social media
8. Digging out old tech – Gameboys, iPods, Walkie Talkies
9. Watching the slower films and TV we grew up with
10. Board games, crafts and making things – not just consuming
